Cheque issuance ceremony in Makueni County

Today, the Chairperson,  Uwezo Fund, Ms. Ann Wambui Njuguna, in collaboration with  Hon. Erastus Nzioka Kivasu  MP Mbooni Constituency, graced the cheque issuance ceremony in Makueni County.
A  total of Kshs. 2,480,000 was issued to 11 refinancing groups (4 youth groups; Kshs. 750,000; and 7 women groups; Kshs. 1,730,000). The constituency has cumulatively disbursed Kshs. 32,430,000 to 296 groups benefiting 4,239 individuals, of which Kshs. 5,589,820 are revolved.

She said plans are underway to link  groups that have successfully repaid and reached the ceiling of five hundred thousand to other Funds to enable them  access higher loan limits.
Addressing the concerns of the public on low youth absorption of the affirmative funds, the chair  said that the Fund  is in the process of enhancing Youth targeted  empowerment programs  to ensure they benefit from Government grants.   
She  challenged groups that have benefited to repay their loans and graduate to higher amount which will enable them do greater businesses.
She urged  Women youths and PWDs who have never joined any group to do so, to enable them benefit from  funds issued by the Government through several platforms like uwezo Fund.
