Uwezo Fund provides loans to groups of youth, women and persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the constituencies.

Wezesha Loan for First Time Borrowers

Wezesha loan is a constituency-based loan intended to finance first time borrowers’ projects and enterprises. The loan amount ranges between Kshs. 50,000 to Kshs.100,000.

Eligibility

Group must be registered with the relevant government body with a valid group registration certificate.
Group membership must be as guided by the registration entity.
Group Membership must fulfil the following;

  • For youth groups; 70% youth (18-35 years), and leadership, 100% youth.
  • Women groups 70% women, and leadership, 100% women  
  • PWDs 70% PWDs, and leadership, 100% PWDs.

The applicant group must apply for the loan from the constituency, be appraised and recommended for funding by the respective Constituency Uwezo Fund Management Committee (CUFMCs).
Operating bank account in the name of the group.

How to Apply

Fill in the Uwezo Fund Loan application form available HERE as well as from the constituency offices countrywide.
Submit the completed form to the constituency office you intend to obtain the loan from.
Attach requisite attachments as indicated on the form.
Await notification of vetting and approval statuses by the Constituency Uwezo Fund Management Committee.

Repayment

The loan is repayable within a period of 12 months upon the expiry of a six months grace period.
Repayment shall be done in monthly installments to the respective constituencies’ loan repayment accounts through direct deposits or paybill
Group members shall sign a guarantee/undertaking to repay the loan.

Endeleza Loan for Repeat Borrowers

This a loan product for repeat borrowers/ subsequent funding.  Subsequent funding is based on an incremental percentage of between 150 to 200% of the initial loan but not more Kshs 500,000.

Eligibility

Completed repayment and demonstrated proper utilization of Wezesha Loan
Demonstrable evidence of potential for growth and employment creation
Group must be registered with the relevant government body with a valid group registration certificate.
Group membership must be as guided by the registering entity.
Group Membership must be at least;

  • For youth groups; 70% youth (18-35 years), and leadership, 100% youth.
  • Women groups 70% women, and leadership, 100% women
  • PWDs- 70% PWDs, and leadership, 100% PWDs.

    The applicant group must apply from the constituency and be appraised and recommended by the respective CUFMCs.
How to Apply

Fill in the Uwezo Fund Loan application form available HERE as well as from the constituency offices countrywide.
Submit the completed form to the constituency office you intend to obtain the loan from.
Attach requisite attachments as indicated on the form.
Attach discharge certificate for initial loans completion
Await notification of vetting and approval statuses by the Constituency Uwezo Fund Management Committee.

Repayment

The repayment of the loan commences after a 30 days grace period from the date of disbursement.
Repayment will be made in twelve (12), Eighteen (18) and twenty-four (24) equal instalments proportionate to the amounts lent.
Repayment shall be done in monthly instalments to the respective constituencies’ loan repayment accounts through direct deposits or paybill.
Group members shall sign a guarantee/undertaking to repay the loan.
